What is codependency?

Codependency is a learned behavior that can be passed down from one generation to another. It is an emotional and behavioral condition that affects an individual’s ability to have a mutually satisfying, healthy relationship. It is also known as “relationship addiction” because people with codependency often form or maintain one-sided, emotionally destructive and/or abusive relationships. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates, relates to other people and how they make sense of the world around them. The term “spectrum” refers to the wide range of symptoms, skills, and levels of impairment or disability that children with autism can have.
